We all cook from the same basic ingredients
Our personalities and experience will influence the tools we choose or create

So What?
For the past 4-5 years I’ve followed a Daily Note first approach, which works extremely well for my meeting notes workflows
I tried PARA but the folder structure fell apart
I don’t really do research, Zettelkasten had a bit too much friction for me, yet I find the ethos of Zettelkasten very compelling.
Back in the days… in TheBrain I started off with a Content First approach, then gravitated to a Topic First setup
I plan to evolve my Daily Note first approach into a Topic First setup in Obsidian. I will keep the Daily Note first approach for my work/meeting notes, but handle everything else in a Topic First way. I will also give Zettelkasten another try, feeding it from my new Daily Note first / Topic First hybrid.

Daily Notes First
Everything gets recorded on the Daily Note
You have a separate Index-Page/Log/MOC for key topics in your life:
- Projects
- Research topics
- Hobbies & interests
- Areas of responsibilities
- etc.
You create a new page for every time you work on something
- when you work on your project
- read the book
- you’re in a meeting
- engage in your hobby
- plan a holiday
- etc.
How do you organize your notes?… and why that way?
Action First
Context centric
Everything gets organized based on the context in which you will most likely to use it next.
Access
- Atlas
- Calendar
- Cards
- Extras
- Sources
- Spaces
Random mess
Notes get recorded all over the place. They are mostly disconnected. You trust that search will find the documents when you need them. You may be adding keywords or tags.
